  I did everything I could, supplying them with my dietician's file before admission and additional information. I did not arrive on their doorstep without providing necessary information.

  This action lets them off the hook with my diet but they also failed in their duty of care to provide what they offered for my pain management.

  The hospital is incapable of providing for special diets, even ones which are comparatively simple in composition such as fresh protein and vegetables. The "chef" says she does not need scales as she "knows" her portions hence I was served all sorts.

  After a week of trying to provide my diet the hospital doctor discharged me against my will. They ADMITTED their own failure to meet my dietary needs to avoid my food allergies and intolerances.

  The doctor admitted they have now instituted procedures for future patients but that will not help me as I was discharged halfway through a pain program with the only choice but to attend as an outpatient which would require at least an hour's travelling each day. The physio sessions are demanding and rest afterwards to avoid flareups is necessary.

  All contact nurses are lovely. Never saw the Director of Nursing or her deputy. The only time I saw a RN during day or evening was for medication and they never asked about you or treatments. An enrolled nurse is the administrator for the pain program.

  Beautiful staff that are genuine in your care. The meals/ menu are spoken too/ asked personally by the cook and you have 2 choices with main and deserts. I'm sure they would also attended to your dietary needs. Rooms are well appointed with a balcony and wheelchair accessible toilet/ shower. Doctor Laurence Clark is always on hand and help is only a nurse call button with prompt response. I can only hope your level of care is a professional as mine. Thankyou Splendlove Hospital in my surgical recovery, and a special thanks to nurse Louise for being so nice to my parents when visiting. All the staff are amazing and competent and make you feel at ease. Will always have fond memories of my stay, Mark Mellor 6/9/2014

  A brilliant hospital that took care of my father while we found him suitable aged care accommodation. The nursing staff are very experienced and knowledgeable. Communication between staff was the best I have seen at any hospital. Very proactive in managing any medical issues. Kitchen staff accommodated my father's preferences. All staff were caring, compassionate and understanding. A specialist hospital that many of the larger hospitals could learn from.

  Beware if you have a special diet no matter how simple. The pain program has potential if you have no dietary needs.
